1. Walk Through, Sit Down and Talk

Photos help, but nothing beats stepping inside. Our show home lets you see the proportions, the finishes and the light first-hand, then sit down and talk through what you would like to build.

Every Cosy Cabins project is a conversation. Bring your ideas, your site and your questions, and we will work out the best way to bring them to life together.

Find us at 33 College Street, Motueka, open Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. Call 0800 297 397 if you would like to arrange a time.

2. A Striking Exterior in Black Iron and Macrocarpa

The exterior pairs black corrugated iron with warm macrocarpa cladding. The contrast looks sharp and modern, and the materials are chosen to stand up to New Zealand weather year after year.

Planter boxes along the deck edge soften the lines and add a touch of green, so the building feels settled in its setting.

3. Full-Length Kwila Decking for Smoko in the Sun

A full-length kwila hardwood deck runs the width of the building. It is the ideal place for smoko, a coffee or a catch-up, and it gives the team a sunny spot to step outside and reset during the day.

Hardwood decking is dense and durable, which makes it a practical choice for a space that sees plenty of foot traffic.

4. A Birch Ply Interior That Feels Warm and Focused

Inside, birch ply lining gives the office a light, natural warmth that feels calm and professional. A window beside the desks brings in daylight and a view of the surroundings, while white panels keep the room bright.

Durable carpet tile underfoot is built for hard wear, and it is easy to replace tile by tile, which keeps the floor looking fresh.

5. A Modular Office With Three Desks and a Break-Out Boardroom

The layout gives the team 3 desks and a break-out boardroom for meetings, planning and client conversations. Everything a modern office needs is built in: power, internet and air conditioning.

Air conditioning keeps staff comfortable through hot summer afternoons and cool mornings, which supports focus and productivity all day. Our own team works from this office every day, so every detail has been tested in daily use.

6. Sit Down and Talk Through Your Own Plans

The break-out boardroom is where ideas become plans. Pull up a chair, spread out your drawings and talk through your project with someone who builds these every day.

We offer full custom design and complete creative freedom, and custom plans and a quote are provided free of charge. Whether you would like a home office, a studio, a guest cabin or a full commercial space, we can shape it to suit your site and your budget.

Our support continues after the build, too. Exceptional sales and after-sales support means you have people to call at every stage, from the first conversation to long after the keys are in your hand.

10. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I visit the show home?

Yes, we would love to see you. Our office show home is at 33 College Street, Motueka, and is open Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. Call 0800 297 397 if you would like to arrange a time, then come and sit down with our team to talk through your project.

How long does it take to build a cabin or office?

Smaller cabins usually take 6 to 8 weeks after the design is finalised, and larger cabins usually take 10 to 14 weeks. Consented jobs add 4 to 6 weeks, and a resource consent, where one is needed, can add another 8 to 12 weeks for application and approval. Our show home was completed in 5 weeks.

What is included in the price?

Our fixed-price contracts cover design, construction ex yard and preparation for transport. That includes the building envelope, cladding, insulation and lining, plus the fit-out, including flooring and, where your design includes them, a bathroom and kitchen. Transport, drapes, appliances, service connections, site works, foundations and off-grid services are normally quoted separately, and we are happy to price them for you.

What other costs should I plan for?

Think about site access, compliance, foundations, decking and baseboards, landscaping, service connections, off-grid systems and survey costs. Contact us for a project budget template, or ask one of our consultants to walk you through it.

Do I need a building consent for an office?

A simple building shell under 30m² can be built without a building consent, but it still has to meet the Building Code (NZS 3604:2011) and be built by a licensed building practitioner. If plumbing is involved, such as a kitchen or bathroom, you will normally need a building consent, with some exemptions. Councils apply the rules differently, so we can advise on your case, and Cosy Cabins looks after the entire consenting process for you where one is required.

How much can I customise?

We offer a range of materials and colours, and if you have specific dimensions and materials in mind, let us know and we will accommodate your ideas. External dimensions, windows and doors involve engineering, so these are changed by negotiation, usually for an extra fee. Fully bespoke builds are available.

Does the office have power, internet and air conditioning?

Yes, the show home has power, internet and air conditioning to keep staff comfortable and productive. Our standard electrical package includes 4 double power outlets, LED lighting, a data cable, a switchboard and RCDs, and ventilation, heating and cooling are available as optional upgrades. Tell us what your team needs and we will include it in your quote.

How is transport handled?

We offer nationwide, insured delivery, including road-legal trailers for easy transport, and we manage site access planning, placement and setup. Cosy Cabins carries extensive insurance policies that cover us, and you, for design, construction, transport and other liabilities. Tell us where your site is and we will give you an estimate.

Do your buildings have a warranty?

Yes. Our buildings are built to NZS 3604:2011 by licensed building practitioners and hold a 10-year materials performance guarantee and a 12-month maintenance guarantee. At hand-over we supply a complete booklet with our factory warranty and other helpful information, and we walk you through it.

What materials do you use?

Floors, walls and roof are built from Formance SIPS construction or, in some cases, a treated timber frame. Windows and doors are double glazed, thermally broken, argon filled and Low E coated. Our standard cladding is Colorsteel trapezoidal iron over a cavity, with Siberian larch and macrocarpa timber cladding available as options. Interiors are lined with painted ply as standard, with Euro birch ply, OSB and painted plasterboard available as options.

Can the office be moved to another site later?

Our buildings are transportable, and in almost all cases they are fixed to foundations on site. If you expect to move yours later, tell us when you enquire and we will talk through how to set it up.
