Two Custom SIPS Cabins for Collingwood Holiday Park

When Collingwood Holiday Park came to Cosy Cabins, they wanted two custom cabins that were super warm, cosy and ready for short-term guest stays by the sea. We designed and built both from SIPS (structural insulated panels), a construction method known for its warmth, strength and speed.

Both cabins were designed for transport and built off site, which kept disturbance to campers to a minimum. The park chose all the colours and finishes, and Cosy Cabins looked after everything else: design, consents, delivery, foundations, construction, commissioning and sign-off.

The result is a pair of snug, durable cabins with a Code Compliance Certificate (CCC), ready to welcome guests to their beautiful Golden Bay setting.

1. Custom Cabins Designed for Cosy Short Stays

Holiday park guests want somewhere warm, comfortable and easy to settle into, whatever the weather outside. That was the brief for these two cabins, and we designed them around it.

The park chose every colour and finish, so the cabins look just as they imagined. Our team handled the design, the compliance work and the build, giving the park one point of contact from the first conversation through to handover.

2. Built from SIPS for Warmth, Strength and Speed

SIPS construction is the secret behind how snug these cabins feel. Structural insulated panels combine strong framing with high-performance insulation in a single panel, which keeps holiday makers warm and comfortable throughout their stay.

The panels also go together quickly, so each cabin took shape fast in our workshop, with a strong, solid structure ready for transport and a long working life.

3. Warm, Welcoming Interiors for Guests

Step inside and the cabins live up to their name. The 6 x 3 m interiors make clever use of every metre, with cosy sleeping layouts that include a double bed and bunk beds, bright natural light and comfortable spaces to relax after a day exploring the coast.

4. Colorsteel Maxx Cladding and Kwila Decking Built for the Coast

A coastal location asks a lot of a building, so we protected the cabins with durable Colorsteel Maxx cladding, chosen to stand up to the salt air and keep looking good season after season.

Each cabin also has steps and decking in premium kwila, a naturally hard-wearing timber. The decks give guests a welcoming place to sit outside, and the steps are designed for easy, comfortable access to the front door.

5. Built Off Site, Delivered with Insured Transport

Building the cabins in our workshop meant the park stayed peaceful and open for campers while the work went ahead. Once each cabin was complete, it travelled to Collingwood with insured transport and was lifted into place by crane.

We looked after the whole process, from design through to consent, delivery, foundations, construction and sign-off, so the park could focus on running the campground.

6. A Beautiful Location Calls for Careful Planning

Collingwood Holiday Park sits in a stunning seaside spot, and protecting that setting shaped how we approached the project. Cosy Cabins managed the resource consent, building consent and natural hazards assessment, along with iwi monitoring and archaeological monitoring.

To keep ground disturbance to a minimum, we used special concrete-free foundations. They protect the land around the cabins, while giving each building a stable, secure base.

7. Signed Off with a CCC and Ready for Guests

Both cabins were completed to a high standard and signed off with a Code Compliance Certificate, so they were ready for the park to move in and start welcoming guests.

From the first design conversation through to commissioning, Cosy Cabins looked after every step, giving the park a clear legal pathway, quality construction and one friendly team to deal with.

What Our Clients Say

We are always delighted to hear from the people we build for. Here is what the team at Collingwood had to say:

“A great big THANK YOU to Justin at Cosy Cabins who is so super fantastic to work alongside to create these wee gems that will make our guests feel snuggly for years to come!”

Camp operator, Collingwood Holiday Park

“Cosy Cabins has been involved in two projects that I have been responsible for over recent years. Justin has shown excellent project management skills and has been an invaluable partner to Council. The two new cabins that were constructed, consented, and relocated to Collingwood resulted in a great improvement to the Council campground there. I unreservedly recommend Vision Projects and am happy to be contacted for a verbal reference.”
